With the emergence of COVID-19, the need to kill and limit the spread of pathogens is at an all-time high across global markets.
With the emergence of COVID-19, the need to kill and limit the spread of pathogens is at an all-time high across global markets.
Meeting the Disinfection Challenge
The emergence of new strains of pathogens presents an ongoing need for biosecurity. Yet controlling the presence of infectious agents in enclosed spaces, providing effective and continuous disinfection of air and surfaces, presents numerous challenges. Together, SteriLumen and Airocide automatically disinfect high contamination areas, effectively decreasing pathogens and risk of transmission.
Design
Restrooms and lavatories are areas of high contamination with aerosolized particles coming from drain trap areas. Healthcare workers, the patient and visitors frequently use these rooms, presenting many opportunities for acquisition and transmission of microbes throughout the this environment.
Materials
Multiple surface materials and textiles cannot all be cleaned and disinfected effectively with the same liquid solutions; when damage occurs to surface materials, it can leave protective reservoirs for microbes to proliferate in and become inaccessible to biocide solutions.
Time
Staff are not given sufficient time to do a thorough job. The average daily room disinfection time is 10 minutes. It is impossible to effectively clean and disinfect a hospital room, restrooms or other areas of high contamination in 10 minutes.
Meeting the Challenge for Healthcare
- According to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, approximately 1.7 million people in the US contract a healthcare associated infection (HAI) every year, with an estimated cost to the healthcare system of $45 Billion annually.
- The risk of HAIs has increased dramatically due to the shortage of acute care nurses.
- ~150,000 annual hospitalizations & $673 million in additional health care costs from HCAIs in LTC facilities.

The pandemic has erased previous gains in HAI management, severely impacting all sectors of healthcare – long term care, assisted living, clinics, medical offices and hospitals. In 2009, the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) stopped reimbursing hospitals for patients who acquired an HAI during their hospital stay and later added fines for facilities with high rates of infection. The combined impacts of reduced reimbursements, fines and reduced elective procedures during the pandemic have had a serious effect on facilities some of whom have seen a reduction of up to 40% of their total revenue and profit margins heading into the red.
ROI
Innovative solutions that support existing infection control protocols are key to returning to elective procedures and securing these revenues. Improving or maintaining facilities’ ratings for patient safety and outcomes also positively impacts revenues by ensuring that patients and caregivers continue to choose these facilities for their care.

Hospitals
We are proud to partner with Axis Lighting, a leader in hospital design to offer our disinfection platform as part of their BalancedCare™ program for hospitals, patient rooms and common areas.
Meeting the Challenge for Hospitality
As proud members of the American Hotel and Lodging Association, we understand that the pandemic has undeniably hit the hospitality industry the hardest with hotels, casinos and convention centers experiencing $46 Bn in lost room revenues in 2020. With global air traffic down over 60%, customers are selecting closer destinations and expect “proven cleanliness” and safety.
ROI
Let us help to increase bookings by helping your guests travel and stay with confidence: communicate cleaning and disinfection efforts including efficacy reporting. Proof that guests are safe in your locations will improve the customer experience.
Improve your operations by increasing employee safety, ultimately reducing turnover and absenteeism. Streamlining asset management with connected devices improves energy efficiency and sustainability.

Meeting the Challenge for Real Estate & Facility Management
Vacancy rates continue to climb, while more than 60% of office workers remain at home. State and local budgets are starting to feel the impact of the reduced revenues coming from lower commercial property tax base.
ROI
Asset Management – Connected solutions for facilities managers ensure greater control and oversight for devices and proactive maintenance that will help tenants feel more secure, opening the door for longer or stronger lease terms. Sustainable solutions with programmable and automatic operations to optimize energy use meet the goals of sustainable safety for employees and tenants. Effective disinfection with no harmful chemicals or emissions meets the needs of Environmental Health and Safety officers and environmentally conscious tenants.
Make your buildings “healthier” with improved and automatic disinfection technologies and attract new tenants. Developers taking this approach will attract more discriminating tenants and become more competitive relative to locations without advanced disinfection leading to lower vacancy rates and more profitable tenants.

Meeting the Challenge for Retail & Municipal
The retail and municipal sectors share high-traffic, high density spaces visited by clients, citizens, students, shoppers and travelers who need or wish to visit these locations.
ROI
Although a greater variety of activities and shopping can be done online, for retailers, having customers come back into the stores is generally more profitable than the more single-minded nature of online shopping; in-store customers linger longer, buy more products, and spend more than when online. Adding novel disinfection technologies to merchandising efforts will encourage retail shoppers to return.
While it is beneficial to be able to complete forms and pay fees online, it is either necessary or highly desired to have many municipal services – K-12, community colleges, court appearances, social services and transportation – be performed in person.
ROI
Increased disinfection of air and high-touch surfaces in retail, municipal & public sector buildings, bus terminals and airports will meet public health goals to decrease risk of transmission in these high-risk settings.
